The first piece of my ongoing project, Stepback, NLWD (No Light Without Darkness), is an original op-art halftone graffiti work that laid the foundation for the series’ exploration of contrast and perspective. It embodies a central truth of the idea behind it: light and insight can only be fully understood through darkness and hardship—a realization that emerges when we summon the courage to step back and see the broader patterns of our lives.
